Let’s talk Magnolia Market, Silos, and more for a quick minute! First off, YES, you have heard right! It is in fact a beautiful and inspiring place to visit and we have enjoyed it both times we have gone. The decor is lovely, the atmosphere is fun as so many people are traveling from all over to be there, and if you’ve heard the cookies are good, you have heard right.
I have taken a good chunk of time to share with y’all the things you must do and see, and some you could pass on too. Below includes details on the Silos Baking Co., Magnolia Table, where to park, and even the ORIGINAL Magnolia Market. Plus some!
I will warn you, Waco is not much to see,on its own. But that being said, I would still recommend a quick trip to Waco to enjoy all that Magnolia has created for a day. I would recommend coupling it with a trip to Austin or Dallas as well as you’ll have lots more to do and see in the bigger cities. Ok! With all that being said.
It’s time for me to share with you the beauty, creativity, and some tips that’ll make your trip that much better!
Make sure not to skip anything in this post because I have a couple of money saving ideas through out as well. 🙂
Visiting the Magnolia Market Store
See for yourself the beautiful and inspiring displays of lovely decor items. I do think the store can’t be missed. I mean duh! It’s the reason everyone is going to the little town of Waco, TX, in the first place. It really is a lovely place though. The design teams that make it all come together with Joanna do a fabulous job! I will say sadly, the items are a bit pricier than I would have loved them to be. But I guess that’s what happens when things get big.
The store really is fun to browse in, take pictures in, and find some things to take home to beautify your own space. I always love getting home decor pieces from around the country. Then when I am back home, I have pieces of our trips to remind us of the fun memories we have made together elsewhere.
After looking over pictures of when we first visited the Silos, it has changed so much! They have really upped their game and created a fun place for families to enjoy the day together! One thing I do love about it, is that no matter what season you visit in, they have it all decorated for that time of year. Making it a fun place to visit all year round!
Take lots of pictures!
They have done a fantastic job of creating so many fun photo moments for you and your loved ones to enjoy. I mean, pictures are half the experience, right? You’ll want to have your camera ready at almost every spot with all the cute sayings and inspiring set ups.
Eat something at a food truck!
It’s part of the experience of being in Texas if you ask me. It reminds me of Austin and Portland, OR. As both, to only name a few places, are big into Food Trucks/carts. Magnolia has incorporated the idea on there Silo’s property. We have eaten lunch at two of the places in the past and enjoyed it.
Plus you can just take some time with your group to rest and enjoy the outdoor fun. They have picnic tables, porch swing seating, and lots of grassy area for kids to play on. It does everyone some good to just enjoy the views and high energy vibes of everyone traveling in for the excitement of being at the Magnolia Market Silos. It’s a great energy!
Take a peak inside the garden area!
There you’ll find a little green house, plants growing, a small shop of gardening and magnolia items, and some great photo opportunities as well.
Look at this little green house! It’s a dream!
Park in the free parking
The lot is right next to the back side of the market. You’ll see other parking places trying to make you pay, but drive around the block past the main shop, turn right and they have a free lot for Magnolia Market.
Silos Baking Co.
Take a peak in the window to see it. But honestly it just doesn’t stand up to much of the other cute decorated designed buildings/places. It just doesn’t have that wow factor to me! Sadly.
We tried 3 cupcakes and two cookies. The cupcakes, sadly just were not good. The cake is very dense and tastes closer to corn bread than cake. The vanilla and strawberry frosting are blah. The only one that tasted kind of alright was the chocolate. But after a bite or two, we just didn’t want to eat anymore.
The cookies on the other hand are delicious! The chocolate chip and sugar cookie, get those!
Tip: Get them at the little food truck outside. Plus they are actually cheaper! Ha what? They are on the same property…doesn’t make sense to me. But they are. In fact all the treats are cheaper. So if you want to try something for yourself, go there!
Y’all take it from me! A lady came up to me and told me that they were cheaper but I just had to get it from the bakery ha! Like I said though after going in for myself. It’s really not that special and the line can be super long! So skip the line, peak inside, even ask to step inside to see it, then go over the Silos Bakery food truck and buy yourself a cookie! You and your wallet will thank me later. 😉
Magnolia Table
The restaurant for me was a little underwhelming, like the bakery. It’s a cute place and all but I thought it’d be a bit more grand. I think the things that make it cute are the signs and the bathroom. Now from a design point of view, the place is well put together and has a lot of beautiful elements. Just something about it wasn’t as “wow” for me, if you will. Honestly, my photos make it look even more crisp than it looked in person.
We got there a few hours early to try to get in to eat for lunch for the day, but even three hours before it was closing, they said it was full for the day. Sadly. Looks like reservations must be made days in advanced to eat here. Maybe we would have enjoyed the food but we didn’t enjoy what we got from the “To-Go” store.
They were very kind when letting us know they didn’t have room for us that day and gave us a 20% off coupon for the little “To-Go” shop so we could get something there. That was a cute little shop with a lovely patio area. The vines up the walls though!
As for the food, we tried the chicken salad (Didn’t finish it and it’s only a half sandwich), the cinnamon roll (not good), and a gluten-free oatmeal chocolate chip cookie (which was the best thing out of it all, in the end. ha).
See Jimmy Don!
His little shop is next to the market parking lot. We saw him from driving by. People were chatting with him, giving him hugs, and shopping at his little set up.
Check out the Harp Co. Store
The house that Chip an Jo did for the Harp family on a Fixer Upper episode is right next door. I did read that they moved out of the home and they now live elsewhere. But still fun to see!
We didn’t get to go inside the store because it does close by 5pm each day. But it’s a different home decor store as far as I could tell from peaking in the window. You might find a fun little something to take home.
Original Magnolia Shop
Head to see what discounted items you can find. When we first visited a few years back they hadn’t done anything with the place but it now holds home decor finds at a discounted rate from previous seasons. I purchased a beautiful huge vase for under $20! It was originally being sold for like $50? Fun to also see where things all started for Chip and Jo. Especially with how crazy big they are now.
By the way…if you shop the Magnolia Market first, they’ll give you a 10% off coupon to use at the original shop.
That’s it for the Waco tour of Magnolia! It’s a great place to visit to find some family fun, new beautiful decor for your home, and to eat some yummy food. If you go and use my tips, let me know below! I’d love to hear what you thought of the Market and all the fun finds you get!
Two added Bonus tips while visiting Waco:
Search for fun murals in Waco! We found a couple through out the main downtown. This one that’s pictured is right close to the Market itself.
Check out all the other home decor stores in the area. We spotted a few pickin locations while driving over to Magnolia Table but didn’t have time to stop and look. If you do have time, go look for me! 😉 A couple years back we particularly enjoyed Spice Village. It has over 60 vendors inside and so many fun things to shop for and see. The prices are much better too.
