Daniel had a work trip to Dallas in late February so we decided the best thing for our family would be to tag along. So we figured out our budget, how it’d work for us to travel with two babies, and got ourselves packed and ready to go. Our kids were champs on the plane right over and our little boy in particular sure loved to see all the planes, vans, and machines at the airport. He loved riding on a plane, in an airport train, on a bus to the rental car place, seeing all the rental cars, and then getting to play in our new car for the week. This kid LOVES cars and all the sorts!
During the days I watched the babes in the hotel room and at night we would go out and see the city and explore the surrounding areas. We had a blast! Even with the ants in our hotel room and water going all over in the bathroom, the change of pace and scenery was good for us all.
So after playing in Dallas, I just had to share what we loved and tell y’all what you can’t miss when you visit the Dallas, TX area!
These food places are all highly rated and for good reason! YUM!
Velvet Taco-
It stays open till 2am, so that was perfect for us when we had to stay in during the day, we could go enjoy some tacos late at night. Although it wasn’t that late for us both times 😉 The food is delicious! We are talking a picnic taco that has friend chicken, chicken tikka masala taco, and this Thai curry queso that is SO good. Can’t forget the awesome tots either! We are excited that they will be bringing one to ATL this Spring.
Italia Express-
I can’t say enough good about this place. The guys working the counters were very kind and knew there pie. We had a stromboli and a huge slice of alfredo pizza! Both were so tasty! A fun Italian to go kind of place that makes real Italian food. Go here!!
The Porch on Henderson-
A little on a the pricier side with a romantic moody atmosphere. My husband still raves about the awesome burger he had there. I had a delicious buttermilk friend chicken cobb salad and my son and I both loved it. A fun place for a nicer sit in evening meal! They also serve, breakfast and lunch. Park behind the restaurant in the free valet.
Emporium Pies-
This quirky little pie shop is serving up some very scrumptious pies! We shared two large slices of blueberry and deep dish apple. They were both write home worthy. It’s a great little shop for dessert or dinner if you are into that sort of thing. 😉
Pegasus–
It’s a Dallas staple! I read up on it and the reason it is dates back to 1934 when they first put a Pegasus statue on the top of the Magnolia Hotel which was the tallest building in Dallas back then. It’s a thing all through out Dallas and this is a must see very large Pegasus!
Dallas Temple–
This is such a beautiful temple! It is a temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Although only worthy members of the church can go inside, it is worth a drive to see this beautiful place. We are members of the church but it is such a peaceful stunning place, I’d recommend anyone go see.
The Shops at Park Lane-
Located in the Highland Park. This is a very nice shopping area. They have the biggest Home Goods I’ve been in! Amazing! Lots of stores, restaurants, and even a movie theatre.
The Knox-Henderson Area-
We seemed to keep making our way back to this neighborhood. It’s filled with cute boutiques and fun restaurants all foodies will enjoy!
Head down to the Deep Elum Neighborhood for some fun murals and some must see Statues!
American Flag Mural-
Find it at St. Pete’s Dancing Marlin, 2730 Commerce St. Dallas TX 75226
Believe in Yourself Mural-
On the same street as the American Flag mural.
Fine Pies for Fine Folks-
2708 Main St. Dallas, TX 75226
Located right outside Emporium Pies in Deep Elum. The pie shop I recommend you visit in this post.
Traveling Man Sculpture-
Keep your eyes open as there are three parts to this sculpture. Near the Deep Elum Rail Station.
